Sunday School Art

A Sunday school teacher in Florida has been arrested for pasting kids faces onto porn.

"A volunteer Sunday school teacher is facing child pornography charges, after investigators say he took photographs of young girls and pasted their faces to sexually explicit pictures of adult women."

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around what he was thinking let alone what the DA is thinking with regards to the charges. Is it really kiddie porn? It's not like he snapped pictures of naked kids.

Certainly this guys creepy and pontentially a danger but I'm not sure he actually violated a law here, or even harmed anyone.

If he did violate a law then it's a pretty broad one. What next? If you pencil in boobs on a kids picture you end up a felon and on a sexual predator list?

This is a moronic prosecution

I think the "best" part of the article is this: "His victims range in age from 5 to 15 years old, detectives say." Victims? Of having a picture of their face pasted on a picture of someone else? What an incredibly absurd waste of time.

See Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition

The news account may be omitting details, but if not then this prosecution is patently unconstitutional. Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition KipEsquire, A Stitch in Haste

Holy Cow

Wow.  Now law was overly broad.   Draw lucy kneeling in front of Charlie Browns crotch and you are looking at a felony.

I could see someone getting procecuted for this:

Specifically, us, since we now have it on our web site. Thanks.

Technically not on website

Good point

Still, I'm a software engineer and I didn't catch that. So we'd still be screwed if we had to convince a jury.

Yeah I thought of that

Scott looks kinda cute and I was hoping we'd serve time in the same federal pen.

Visual Aggression Against Children

And then there is this, though it may just be another peeping Tom law.

Visual Aggression

Yeah and the politician said we were suppose to feel comfortable because the law wasn't merely about looking but also some other act like peering over a stall or touching oneself.

Judge: Did you follow the child in?
Defendant: Well, yes, he got to the door first and I went in afterwards.
Judge: Did you peer over the stall?
Defendant: Well, yes, I'm over six foot and the urinal was next to the stall, I couldn't help seeing over.
Judge: Were you touching yourself?
Defendant: Well, yes, I was.  Otherwise I dribble all over myself.

Hi Tech Morality Enforcement

This deplorable situation needs a technological fix in order to protect the ch-child-ren.

First these stalls need to be equipped with retinal detectors to make sure the clients of public restrooms keep their eyes to themselves. I believe these are already in use in the defense industry and I don’t see why they could not be adapted for use in public urinals.

Of course you could just build the partitions higher but then you could get into some potential gay rights issues. Thus you would need some means of monitoring the age of the guy in the next stall. A simple photoelectric detector could serve the purpose of insuring that under aged clients were not being observed by measuring their height but could run into problems with the American With Disabilities act if it were found to discriminate against short gay people.

The issue of persons touching themselves when visiting urinals could be dealt with by issuing clients one of those colored plastic cloths pins you can get at Wal-Mart. Let’s get Patri involved in this. He a lot of ideas that would probably be even better than these.
