Oprah and Obama

So Oprah is campaigning for Obama. I find this strange because I've never seen this amount of speech-making by one person on behalf of another person in a presidential race. Or maybe I'm just seeing it more in news clips because Oprah's such a big name? She just implicitly tooled Hillary Clinton about her 'experience' in Washington, daytime talkshow style. I half expected to see Clinton respond with a "Whateva! Whateva! It's my hot body! I'll do what I want!"

If I didn't know any better, I'd say Oprah has political ambitions of her own in the future.

If I was a voting man, I'd vote for Oprah. Besides being the female, black Horatia Alger story incarnate, she also isn't a nationalistic bigot, unlike her critics:

I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools that I just stopped going. The sense that you need to learn just isn't there. ... If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod, sneakers, or some money. In South Africa, they don't ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school.

Btw, Jonathan, that Cartman reference was pure win.

Also, I tried to include a relevant cartoon image in this post, but this new blog software is awful. I haven't been able to imbed an image or a YouTube video ever since we switched.

Yeah, she's preferable to the other candidates

(except Paul)

She's an entrepreneur. She became a gazillionaire with her smarts. That counts for something in my book.

I wasn't sure if anyone was gonna get it. And I'm pretty sure Cartman himself said it in reference to the common phenomenon seen on many daytime talkshows where a provactively-dressed but not exactly physically-appealing guest would parade out on stage to the jeers of the crowd. Cartman's lines were their chants of defiance.

Thanks for the pic - I put it in the post. Posting a pic seems pretty easy to me : just use the "file attachments" option. Posting a youtube is harder. I have to use the "disable rich text" option, paste the embed url, and then post without previewing. I've seen others like Scott, Arthur, and Constant post videos before; maybe they know another way.

Yeah, I've tried all that;

Yeah, I've tried all that; for whatever reason, neither disabling nor enabling rich text seems to help. I can deal with pure html, but this new system won't let me. :(

Nope, I did it the way you

Nope, I did it the way you described, make a post, edit it, disable rich text, paste the whole html <embed> or <object> block and post without previewing. A bit cumbersome but it works (even with other video sites). Btw, I didn't try to play with it but it looks like <script> is an authorized HTML tag... that's scary. Just saying.

Ah, it must have been the

Ah, it must have been the previewing that screwed me up.

And I can't stress it enough, Jonathan: I really, deeply hate this new blog software.

I post videos without previewing

I post Youtube videos the way you describe. But as for posting images, as far as I know I do not have the ability to upload file attachments. I seem to have an option for including images which are already on the web. There's a place for me to insert the URL. But no uploading for me, I think.
