Taking Advantage

Our comment system is on the fritz---I know a lot of people are thinking that this is a symptom of the coming of the One. Bullshit. Jonathan probably just spilled another drink on our server/microwave. Nowadays, it's only spam that's getting through---and strangely enough, Joe's comments as well. Ha! Joke!

Regardless, the time has come to spill some controversial statements without fear of reprisal, while this window lasts:

1. Libertarians are morally obliged to accept reparations for injustices done to past ethnic groups, and such reparations may be quite large.

2. Consequentialism is a gutless term that falls somewhere between utilitarianism and Kantianism. Adherents, like me, don't specify what it is exactly, because that way it's impossible to falsify. Strauss would approve.

3. Utility is either comparable or useless.

4. 95% of all political arguments, libertarian or otherwise, are really stupid.

5. Once again---Kelo was rightly decided.

6. Anarcho-capitalism is so far away from the status quo as to make it virtually unobtainable, and quite difficult to tell if it's worth obtaining at all.

7. Rights exist. Locke got things right, more or less.

8. Pound for pound, libertarians are really just more pleasant people than other groups.

9. e.e. cummings kind of blows.

10. Mahler's overrated.

11. This ugliness of this site's color scheme is beyond dispute.

12. Irrationality and rationality are present in equal parts in the average individual.

13. The sign of the effect of insecure property rights on production is impossible to tell without some kind of empirical knowledge.

14. I suspect that the latest Star Wars movies are objectively some of the worst creations mankind can lay claim to.

15. Global warming is both real and anthropogenic.

and c'mon,

16. Everybody, deep down, loves a Scheulefest.
