The American Way?

I'm in the middle of watching VH1's "50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs ... Ever." Coming in at #20 is Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue," an angry ode to jingoistic warmongers.

Now, if it was up to me, the 50 most awesomely bad songs ever would consist entirely of country music, but this song is especially heinous, with the lyrical gem, "We'll put a boot in your ass / It's the American way."

Comedian Nick Kroll deadpans,

We'll put a boot in your ass cause that's the American way - and that's not true. What we do is make people think that that boot is cool and then we sell it to them. That is really the American way.

Indeed. If only there were more Nick Krolls and less Toby Keiths in this good ol' U.S. of A.

Did I really see that Simon

Did I really see that Simon & Garfunkle's "Sounds of Silence" was in that Top 50? If so, there really needs to be a congressional investigation into this tragedy.

I'm thinking the work Toby

I'm thinking the work Toby has done for Ford will be his greatest contribution to the music bidness.

Sorry about the run away

Sorry about the run away trackback ping. It was a misfire. ;)

At first I thought Toby Keith was just pathetic. After realizing that he had another track called The Taliban Song, I saw him for what he was. A moron.
