Many environmental predictions turned out to be wrong, sure. Especially those regarding energy. How much did the growth of environmentalism play in the that though?

It's an interesting question- the Dire warnings of Nazis conquering the world have been shown to be false now also, but that's no reason to discount them.
a. their warnings contributed to the predicited effect not occuring.
b. There was still plenty of cause for concern.

Predictive errors? Their predictions were entirely wrong. Not in a quantitative sense, but utterly false: the predictions of 1970 were the precise opposite of the truth.

the opposite of the truth? Who knows, but I don't know how you stretch the flimsy credibility of Paul Ehrlich (or whoever) into a critique of the whole environmental movement.
