I have solved the budget deficit.

All I did was read the following two posts at Marginal Revolution and the problem basically solved itself.

First, Alex Tabarrok grimly observes that The U.S. Government is Bankrupt to the tune of 45 trillion dollars.

But have no fear, because as Tyler Cowen notes in the preceding post, "Good news: our senators are really, really smart," senators' personal stock portfolios outperformed the market by an average of 12%.

The plan consists of the following steps:

  1. Divert all funds from the social security "lockbox" directly to the senators' personal stock portfolios.
  2. ???
  3. Profit!
